DAVE'S CHILI | |
2 lb. ground beef 70/30 1 medium onion finely chopped 4 slices of bacon 15 oz. tomato sauce Favorite brand of hot sauce, to taste 3 tbsp. Chili powder 1.5 tbsp. Cumin powder 1 tsp. Garlic powder 1 tsp. Sweet pickle juice Optional: your favorite canned beans, favorite sauteed vegetables In a large sauce pan heat the tomato sauce to near boiling (be careful not to burn). Brown the hamburger and bacon with onion in a skillet (add vegetable options now). Sprinkle the chili powder and cumin over the meats and onion. Keep stirring until all hamburger and bacon are cooked and all parts are coated with chili powder and cumin (you may need to adjust quantities to suit your taste). Add garlic powder and stir for 2 minutes. Add this skillet of meats and onions to the hot tomato sauce (add optional beans). Add hot sauce to taste slowly, tasting after stirring to test for heat level. Stir together and add sweet pickle juice (this changes the flavor greatly so do not overdo it!) Turn down to a simmer and let simmer for 30 to 45 minutes. Serving suggestions: tablespoon sour cream, cheese, corn chips over hot dogs. Submitted by: David Richardson |
