GERMAN APPLE CAKE 
2 c. flour
1/4 c. shortening
1 1/4 c. sugar
2 tbsp. baking powder
pinch of salt
1 c. milk
sliced apples
1/3 c. cream
1 egg

Mix flour and 1/2 c. sugar. Add shortening, salt and baking powder. Stir in milk. Pour mixture into cake pan. Layer sliced apples over mixture. Add 3/4 c. sugar and cinnamon.

Bake 350°F till golden brown. Beat egg. Blend in cream and 1 Tbsp. sugar. With fork spread on cake when nearly done. Put back in oven for another 10 minutes.
