1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
3 to 3 1/2 c. flour

Mix sugar, shortening, egg, milk, and vanilla. Mix dry ingredients together and gradually add to liquid mixture. Roll out on floured surface. Roll about 1/4 inch thick. Cut into desired shapes and bake at 350 degrees for about 8 minutes.
