FUDGE BROWNIES 
1 c. all purpose flour
1/3 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/3 c. shortening, softened
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. Pet evaporated milk
1/2 c. broken walnuts or pecans (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a small bowl mix flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt. In a large bowl, cream shortening, sugar, and egg until light and fluffy. Gradually stir in flour mixture. Stir in nuts. Spread in greased 8 inch square baking pan. Bake 20-30 minutes or until top springs back when lightly touched. Cut into squares while warm. Cool in pan. Makes 16 squares.
