BREAD PUDDING WITH AMARETTO
SAUCE
 
10 oz. loaf French bread, stale
1 qt. milk
12 c. sugar
6 eggs
1 c. raisins
1 tbsp. vanilla
Splash Amaretto

In large bowl, soak bread in milk. Add sugar, raisins and vanilla. Add eggs. Mix very lightly. Place in well buttered baking dish. Bake in 400 degree oven for 45 minutes. Yields 12 to 15.

AMARETTO SAUCE:

1 stick unsalted butter
1 c. powdered sugar
1/4 c. Amaretto (or other liqueur)
1 egg yolk

Over low heat, melt butter and sugar together, stirring constantly. Add Amaretto and egg yolk. Heat slowly for one or two minutes to set eggs. Pour sauce over bread pudding.
