SCONES 
2 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoon cream tartar
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoon sugar
2 tablespoon butter

Combine dry ingredients in a small bowl or on a piece of waxed paper for easy pouring.

Cream together butter and sugar. Add egg, alternating with mixed dry ingredients with milk.

Bake at 450°F 15 minutes.

The recipe is perfect, just as it is. I did mix the egg and milk, poured in gradually, did not use all of it. Outcome could not be better.
