GRASMERE GINGERBREAD 
1 lb. plain flour
2 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. bicarb of soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
8 oz. soft brown sugar
8 oz. butter

Sift flour, ginger, soda and tartar in bowl. Rub in fat until mixture resembles bread crumbs. Press into a 10x12 inch tin, lined with grease-proof paper. Heat oven to 300 degrees. Cook for 30 minutes.

Allow to cool slightly before cutting into pieces. Remove when cold. Makes approximately 18-20.
