ORANGE DROP COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. shortening
2 1/4 c. brown sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
4 1/2 c. sifted flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. grated orange rind

ICING:

3 c. powdered sugar
4 1/2 tbsp. orange juice
4 1/2 tbsp. melted butter
3 tsp. grated orange rind

Cream shortening and sugar thoroughly. Add eggs and vanilla. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with the buttermilk, to which the soda has been added. Blend in orange rind. Drop by teaspoonfuls on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
