SWEET - SOUR GREEN BEANS 
3 lb. FRESH green beans (DO NOT USE CANNED BEANS)
4 onions, thickly sliced and separated into rings
1 1/3 c. vinegar
1 2/3 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
3 tbsp. salad oil
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. onion powder

Cut off tips of beans; leave whole. Cook in boiling water until tender; drain.

Combine beans and onion rings in a large bowl. Stir together remaining ingredients until sugar dissolves. Pour over beans. Refrigerate at least 24 hours, stirring occasionally. If using a large plastic container with lid that seals, just turn container upside down once in a while. So you never run out, continue to add freshly cooked green beans and sliced onions to remaining dressing as beans are eaten.
