CHOCOLATE BREAD PUDDING
6 slices white bread, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
1 pkg. (8 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate
1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. half and half or milk
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter
3 eggs, slightly beaten

CONVENTIONAL OVEN: Place bread cubes in 1 1/2 quart baking dish; set aside. Combine half and half, chocolate, butter and sugar in saucepan. Cook and stir over low heat until chocolate and butter are melted. Beat with wire whisk until mixture is smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Pour chocolate mixture over bread cubes. Place dish in larger pan with 1 inch boiling water. Bake at 325 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes or until knife inserted near center comes out almost clean. Serve warm or cool. Makes 6 to 8 servings.

MICROWAVE: Combine half and half, chocolate, butter and sugar in microwave-safe dish. Heat at HIGH for 3 minutes; stir until melted and smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in bread. Cook 3 1/2 minutes, stir gently and cook 3 1/2 minutes longer.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
