STRAWBERRY PIE | |
1 (10-inch) pie crust, baked and cooled 1 qt. strawberries 1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate morsels 1 tsp. Crisco shortening 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese 3 tbsp. sugar 1 tbsp. Grand Marnier or orange juice 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 (6 oz.) box strawberry Glaze a Pie! 1 c. heavy whipping cream 1/4 c. powdered (10X) sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 1/8 c. slivered or sliced almonds Wash and remove tops from berries. Reserve 5 large berries. Slice remaining strawberries in half. Set aside. Melt chocolate morsels and shortening together over low heat. Brush mixture on bottom of baked and cooled pie crust. Let stand 10 minutes. Beat cream cheese, sugar, Grand Marnier, and vanilla until smooth. Spread over chocolate layer. Cover cream cheese mixture with sliced berries, cut side down. Make Glaze A Pie! according to package directions and spoon about 3/4 cup over strawberries. (Spread evenly.) Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff. Pipe out a 2-inch border of whipped cream around edge of pie. Mound a 3-inch circle in the center. Cut four of the reserved berries in half and place at equal intervals around whipped cream. Place the fifth berry top side down in the center mound. Drizzle 2 tablespoons of remaining glaze over top. Sprinkle with almonds. Refrigerate several hours before serving. |
