CONGO BARS 
1 1/4 sticks butter, room temperature
2 1/2 c. dark brown sugar, firmly packed
3 eggs
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 c. chopped walnuts or pecans

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 15x10-inch jelly roll pan. Beat butter with sugar in large bowl until light and creamy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt and blend well. Fold in chips and nuts.

Turn into prepared pan, spreading evenly. Bake until top is lightly browned, about 20-25 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack and let cool. Cut into bars. Store in airtight container. Makes 32 bars. These freeze well.
