TAMALE PIE 
1/2 lb. ground beef
1/2 lb. bulk pork sausage
1 lg. onion, sliced
1/8 tsp. minced garlic
1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes with juice
1 (12 oz.) can whole kernel corn, drained
1 tbsp. chili powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper

CORNMEAL PASTRY:

1 c. cornmeal
2 med. eggs
1 c. milk
18 black olives, chopped
Olives sliced for garnish

Cook meats with onion and garlic until browned. Stir in tomatoes with juice, corn and seasonings. Simmer 10 minutes. Pour into greased oblong baking dish.

Prepare cornmeal crust by mixing cornmeal, eggs, milk and chopped olives. Spread over hot mixture. Decorate top with a few olives. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Serve tamale pie warm. Serves 4-6.

Holy spicy goodness. I love tamales so I tried this recipe to fix my craving. It is so yummy and easy prep. I had to add a little more corn meal b/c my vegetables caused there to be so much juice and I thought it would be too runny.
