CHERRY TORTE 
3 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. butter
2 eggs
1/2 c. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 can cherry pie filling

Pan 13 x 9 x 2 1/2 inches (ungreased). Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

Cream butter and sugar. Mix egg, milk and vanilla. Add this alternately with the dry ingredients to the shortening. Pat dough into pan. Save some to sprinkle on top. Put cherry filling on dough and sprinkle on the extra dough.
