APRICOT BARS 
2/3 c. dried apricots
1 pkg. pound cake mix
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. butter
1 egg
1 1/2 c. regular or quick oats
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nuts (walnuts)
Powdered sugar

Place apricots in 1-quart saucepan. Add enough water to cover. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat. Simmer uncovered 10 minutes. Cool. Chop and reserve.

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Reserve 2/3 cup cake mix. Mix remaining dry cake mix, 1/2 cup brown sugar, butter, 1 egg and the oats until crumbly. Press in ungreased rectangular pan (9x13x2 inch) with floured hands. Bake until crust is dry on top and light brown on edges, 10-12 minutes.

Reduce oven to 350 degrees. Beat 1/2 cup brown sugar and 2 eggs. Stir in reserved cake mix, vanilla, apricots and nuts. Spread over baked layer. Bake until golden brown, about 25 minutes, cool, cut in bars. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
