TOMATO PIE 
1 1/2 c. bread crumbs, save some for top of pie
4-5 fresh tomatoes, peeled and sliced
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
1/4 lb. grated American or Cheddar cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
3 strips bacon

Butter 9 inch pie plate and cover bottom with crumbs. Fill with alternating layers of tomato, onion, and slices of cheese. Beat eggs with salt, pepper, and sugar; pour over layers. Sprinkle rest of crumbs on top and arrange bacon slices on top of this. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until bacon is crisp and crumbs are brown. Serves 6-8.
