BRANDY SAUCE 
3 c. boiling water
2 1/2 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/4 c. sugar
2 1/2 tbsp. butter
3 tbsp. (or more to taste) brandy

Mix together all ingredients except brandy. Cook over medium heat until thickened. Add brandy and serve over steamed pudding, mincemeat pie or gingerbread.
