CHERRY WALNUT BARS 
2 1/4 c. flour
1/2 c. powdered sugar
1 c. butter, softened
2 eggs
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. vanilla
5 oz. jar maraschino cherries
1/2 c. walnuts
1 tbsp. butter
1 c. powdered sugar

Mix flour, 1/2 cup powdered sugar and 1 cup butter and press into 13x9 inch pan. Bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees.

Blend eggs, brown sugar, salt, baking powder and vanilla.

Drain cherries; reserve liquid. Chop cherries and walnuts. Stir into egg mixture. Pour over baked crust. Bake 25 minutes. Cool.

Combine 1 tablespoon softened butter, 1 cup powdered sugar and enough cherry liquid to make frosting. Spread over cooled bars.
