NUT BREAD WITHOUT NUTS 
1 3/4 c. unsifted all purpose flour
1 c. sugar
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 c. Grape Nut cereal
1 c. milk
1 egg, well beaten
2 tbsp. melted shortening

Mix flour with sugar, baking powder and salt. Blend milk with egg and shortening and cereal. Add to flour mixture. Stir just until flour is moistened. Pour into greased 9 x 5 inch loaf pan.

Bake for 1 hour in 350 degree oven or until toothpick comes out clean when inserted into center of loaf. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Remove from pan and finish cooling on rack.
