SLICE AND BAKE GUMDROP JEWELS 
1 c. butter
2 c. lightly packed brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
3 c. all-purpose flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 1/2 c. gumdrops (no black ones)

Cream butter and sugar; add vanilla and eggs. Beat well. Mix flour and baking powder; add to creamed mixture. Stir in gumdrops. Form into 2 rolls about 2 inches round. Wrap in wax paper and chill overnight. Using sharp knife and sawing action, cut slices 1/4 inch thick. Place on lightly greased baking sheets. Bake in 375 degree oven for about 8 minutes or lightly browned. Remove from pans and cool on rack. Makes 5 dozen. Dough can be frozen, but thaw in refrigerator before cutting.
