SNICKER DOODLES | |
1 c. soft shortening 1 1/2 c. sugar 2 eggs 2 3/4 c. sifted flour 2 tsp. cream of tartar 1 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. salt Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix shortening, sugar and eggs thoroughly, sift remaining ingredients together and stir into first mixture. Roll into balls the size of small walnuts. Roll in mixture of 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon. Place 2" apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 minutes or until lightly browned but still soft. These cookies puff up at first then flatten out. Makes about 5 dozen cookies. The balls of dough freeze well to be baked later on. |
