5 apples or enough to make 5 c. sliced apples
1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3 c. flour, unsifted
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
4 eggs, unbeaten
1 c. vegetable oil
1/3 c. orange juice
2 tsp. vanilla

Pare apples, slice them and cover with sugar and cinnamon and set aside. Put remaining ingredients in a large mixing bowl in the order listed.

Blend together at low speed of mixer for 1 minute, then 4 minutes at medium speed.

Grease a tube pan and fill with alternating layers, beginning and ending with batter. (2 layers of apples.)

Bake in a preheated 350°F until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean (about 25-35 minutes).

Cool in pan for 10 minutes.
