1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
2 tsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda and sugar. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal. Blend in egg, milk and vanilla. Roll out on floured board. Cut with cookie cutter. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for about 8 minutes. Yield: 3 dozen cookies.
