BLACK FRUIT CAKE 
6 whole eggs
1 1/2 c. butter
1 c. jam
1 c. preserves
1 lb. raisins
1 box dates
1 c. buttermilk
2 tsp. baking powder
1 box figs
2 c. sugar
4-5 c. flour
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda

Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs, beat well.

Sift flour and spices, baking powder and soda. Add alternately with milk. Fold in fruit.

Bake at 350°F for 1 hour until toothpick comes out clean.
