SPICY MOLASSES COOKIES 
4 c. flour, sifted
4 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. ginger
1 1/2 c. shortening, melted
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. molasses
Sugar

Sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, cloves, and ginger; set aside.

Combine melted shortening and 2 cups sugar, beat at medium speed until blended. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Gradually stir in molasses. Gradually add dry ingredients to molasses mixture. Cover and chill 8 hours or overnight.

Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Roll each in sugar. Place balls about 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake in 375 degree oven 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 7 dozen.
