ELAINE'S ENGLISH TOFFEE 
1 1/2 lbs. butter, I only use Land O'Lakes
3 c. sugar (cane) I only use Jack Frost or Domino
3 giant Hershey bars
1 qt. ground nuts (med.)

Grate 1 1/2 Hershey bars. I use food processor. Foil line 2 large cookie sheets. Use 2 1/2 to 3 quart saucepan. Melt butter, add sugar, cook, stirring constantly over medium-high heat to hard crack or 310 degrees on candy thermometer. Pour onto cookie sheets. Sprinkle with grated chocolate. Spread while hot. Sprinkle with 1/2 nuts. Cool. Turn over onto foil and spread on remaining Hershey bars, melted. Put on nuts. Break into pieces when hard.

Makes about 5 pounds candy.
