HIGH-RISE BISCUITS | |
2 c. white flour 1 c. whole wheat flour 3/4 tsp. cream of tartar 1 egg, beaten 2 tbsp. sugar 4 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 3/4 c. butter 1 c. milk In a large bowl, mix the flours, baking powder, sugar, salt, and cream of tartar. Cut in softened butter until mix is like coarse meal. Add egg and milk and stir briefly. Knead 8 or 10 times on lightly floured surface. Pat dough gently to 3/4" to 1" thickness. Cut into 2" biscuits with cutter and place on lightly greased cookie sheet, 1/2" apart. Bake 12 to 15 minutes at 450 degrees. |
