SQUASH PUPPIES 
1 c. squash, grated
1/2 c. onion chopped
1 c. self-rising cornmeal
1/4 c. self-rising flour
1 egg
milk (enough to make a stiff batter)
cooking oil (enough for frying)

Combine all ingredients in mixing bowl and beat. Drop from tsp. into hot deep oil. Brown on both sides on medium heat. Drain on paper towel. Serve while warm.
