1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
3 c. flour or a little more
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cream of tartar

Mix first 4 ingredients together. Beat well. Add sifted dry ingredients and mix well. Chill dough. Roll out and bake at 350°F for 12 minutes or until turning brown.

Before baking, you may sprinkle with colored sugars or frost with frosting after baking.
