BRAN MUFFINS THE FRUGAL WAY 
5 tsp. baking soda
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
Raisins (optional)
2 c. boiling water
4 c. All Bran cereal
2 c. 40% Bran Flakes cereal
5 c. flour
1 qt. buttermilk

Dissolve the baking soda in 2 cups boiling water. Set aside to cool. With electric mixer, cream butter, and sugar; beat in the eggs. Stir in by hand the remaining ingredients. Finally, stir in soda water. Fill muffin tins 3/4 of the way. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. Batter will keep in tightly covered container in refrigerator for weeks.
