QUICK YEAST BREAD 
1/4 c. warm water
1 tbsp. sugar
1 pkg. yeast
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. shortening
1 c. warm water
1 c. cold water
1 egg
3 c. flour
6 to 8 c. flour
1 tsp. salt

Combine 1/4 cup warm water, 1 tablespoon sugar, and yeast. Set aside. In large bowl, combine 1/4 cup sugar, shortening, salt, and 1 cup warm water. Stir to melt shortening. Add cold water, egg, and 3 cups flour. Add yeast mixture and 6 to 8 cups of flour until it makes a soft dough. Cover and let rise. Push down and let rise again. Push down and put in greased muffin pans and bake until golden brown in 350 degree oven for 30 to 40 minutes.
