APPLE - NUT CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar (white)
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. milk
2 c. raw apples, pared & chopped fine

Cream shortening, sugar and brown sugar. Add 2 beaten eggs. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda and add with milk. Fold in apples. Sprinkle on topping and bake in large (8 3/4 x 11 3/4 inch) pan greased and floured at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.

TOPPING FOR CAKE:

1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
2 to 4 tbsp. brown sugar

Mix and sprinkle on cake batter.
