MANDARIN ORANGE SALAD 
1/4 c. slivered almonds
2 tbsp. sugar
1/4 head lettuce, torn into pieces
1 bunch romaine lettuce, turn into pieces
2 stalks celery, diced
Green onions, if desired
1 can mandarin oranges, drained

DRESSING:

1/4 c. oil
1 tbsp. sugar
Dash of pepper
1/4 c. vinegar
1/2 tsp. salt

Cook almonds in sugar over low heat and stir until sugar is melted. Cool. Combine greens, celery, and oranges. Shake dressing and toss over salad 15 minutes before serving. Sprinkle almonds over the salad at serving time.
