SOFT CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
1 c. butter (2 sticks)
1 c. white sugar
1/2 to 1 c. brown sugar
Pinch of salt (optional)
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
3 scant c. flour (about 1 tbsp. taken from each c.)
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. or more chocolate chips
Nuts, if desired

Cream butter with sugars. Beat until fluffy. Add vanilla and eggs; beat well. Gradually add flour, which has soda stirred into it. Stir in chips. Drop by teaspoonful onto greased cookie sheet. Bake only 8-10 minutes, until barely a light brown at 350 degrees.
