3 c. flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. baking powder 2 tsp. cocoa 2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 c. lard, butter or shortening 2 c. sugar 1/2 c. raisins 1/2 c. nuts candied or dry fruits 2 c. buttermilk Cream sugar and lard, butter or shortening together until light and fluffy. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and cocoa. Blend in dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk. Stir in nuts, raisins and fruits. Bake in any desired pan which has been greased and floured at 350°F for about 30 minutes. This was my mother's recipe. |
