HOMEMADE TOMATO SOUP
1 qt. canned tomato juice (heat first)
1/4 tsp. baking soda (add to tomatoes)
4 tbsp. butter put in milk
3 tbsp. flour (or cornstarch)
1 qt. milk (heat second)
Salt and pepper to taste

Strain tomatoes (or use juice) and put soda in tomatoes. Add butter to milk and stir in flour - a little at a time. Put on stove and heat to boiling. When milk is hot and ready to boil, add tomatoes and stir until mixture boils and is thick enough.

NOTE: I usually use 1 or 2 more tbsp. flour or cornstarch so the soup isn't too thin.

For 2 persons: Just cut recipe in half, using 1 pint of tomato juice and milk.
