ITALIAN CLAMS IN RED SAUCE 
2 dozen little neck clams (scrubbed clean)
4 to 5 cloves garlic, crushed
5 to 6 scallion bulbs, chopped fine
5 tbsp. oil
8 to 10 FRESH basil leaves, chopped
1 bunch parsley, chopped
1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1 can plum (whole) tomatoes
2/3 c. white or red wine
