RAISIN BROWN BREAD 
1/4 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
4 c. flour
Pinch of salt
1/2 c. nuts or more
3 c. raisins
4 tsp. baking soda

Pour 2 cups boiling water over the raisins and soda. Let this soak until cool. Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and raisin mixture, mix. Add flour, salt and nuts. Mix well. Bake in greased (No. 2) cans in 350 degree oven for 50 to 55 minutes. Cover with towel for 10 minutes before removing bread from can.

Makes six loaves.
