BUTTERMILK CANDY 
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
Dash of salt
2 tbsp. butter
2 1/2 c. pecan halves

Combine first 4 ingredients and cook over full flame for 5 minutes (stirring constantly). Add butter and pecans, continue stirring until it reaches soft ball stage. Remove from heat. Cool a little while, then whip until creamy. Drop by tablespoon on waxed paper.
