BUTTERMILK CANDY | |
2 c. sugar 1/2 c. buttermilk 1 tsp. butter 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. chopped pecans In a medium pan, combine sugar and buttermilk. Bring to a slow boil and cook until soft ball stage. Do not stir or scrape the sides of pan as candy will turn brittle. Remove from heat and put pan into cold water. Add butter, vanilla and pecans. Allow to cool to 110 degrees on the thermometer. Beat by hand until candy begins to lose gloss. Pour into an 8 inch square pan. Cut into squares. |
