SALT WATER TAFFY 
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. light corn syrup
2/3 c. water
1 tbsp. cornstarch
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla

Butter pan and combine all ingredients except vanilla and cook over medium heat stirring constantly until temperature reaches 256 degrees on candy thermometer or forms hard ball when dropped in cold water. Stir in vanilla and pour on buttered plates. Butter hands and pull taffy until a creamy white and let set on waxed paper.
