CHILDREN'S PLAYDOUGH 
2 c. flour
1 c. salt
2 c. water
4 tsp. cream of tartar
Food coloring

Put flour, salt, water, and cream of tartar in saucepan. Cook over medium heat; stirring with spoon often. Turn heat off when mixture comes away sides of pan. Cool until you can knead out lumps with hands. Make different colors by adding a few drops of food coloring during kneading to different portions. This makes a big batch. Store in refrigerator tightly covered in butter tubs or ziplock bags.
