HOT TAMALES 
1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
1 lg. can chili powder
1 c. vegetable oil
2 lbs. plain meal (6 c.)
3 tbsp salt
1 c. vegetable oil
Enough boiling water to hold mixture together

Combine ground beef and chili powder. Work in oil (1 cup) and mix well with hands. Set aside.

Combine meal and salt. Mix oil in and add enough boiling water. Place 1 tablespoon meal mixture in center of tamale paper. Place meat mixture on top of meal. Top with another tablespoon of meal. Fold paper tie on center and ends. Drop in boiling water and cover. Simmer 40 minutes. Can be frozen.
