BUTTER BALLS 
1 c. butter
1/2 c. powdered sugar
2 c. sifted flour
Pinch of salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Cream butter and powdered sugar. Add flour, salt, vanilla and nuts. Mix thoroughly. Form into small balls (do not flatten). You may make a small indentation on the top of the cookies, to be filled with jam after baking. Bake at 325 degrees for about 15 minutes on ungreased cookie sheet. Do not let get brown.

Fill indentations with jam or sprinkle tops with powdered sugar as you serve them. Do not store or freeze with the powdered sugar topping. Makes about 3 1/2 or 4 dozen.
