JUDY'S CABBAGE CASSEROLE 
1 sm. cabbage, shredded
6 slices bacon
3/4 c. onions, chopped
1 c. raw rice
1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 (15 1/2 oz.) jar spaghetti sauce with mushrooms
3 c. water

Spread 1/2 of cabbage in bottom of 9x13 pan.

Saute bacon until limp; set aside.

To bacon drippings add onions and rice. Cook, stirring constantly, until onions are soft and rice slightly browned. Pour over cabbage in casserole.

Brown meat and spoon over rice mixture. Sprinkle with seasonings and top with remaining cabbage.

Heat spaghetti sauce and water in pan in which onion and rice were sauteed. Pour over cabbage. Top with bacon slices. Cover and bake at 400 degrees 60 minutes. Uncover and bake 10 minutes longer.
