SHEPHERD HAMBURGER CASSEROLE 
8 med. size potatoes
Water
Salt
1 egg
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. butter
1/3 c. milk
3/4 c. shredded cheese

GROUND BEEF MIXTURE:

1-2 lbs. ground beef
2 yellow onions
2 carrots
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. salt
Black pepper to taste
2 tbsp. tomato paste
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp. flour
3/4 c. water

1. Peel the potatoes and cut in pieces. Boil in salted water approximately 15 minutes. Pour out water, mash the potatoes. Beat the egg, add salt, butter and milk. Mix with potatoes and beat until fluffy.

2. Turn oven to 375 degrees.

3. Chop onions, slice carrots. Saute onions and carrots, remove and put aside.

4. Brown the ground beef. Add carrots and onions

5. Add salt, pepper, tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce.

6. Sprinkle flour and add water. Let it simmer a couple of minutes.

7. Pour ground beef mixture in a oven safe casserole. Cover with the mashed potatoes. Top with shredded cheese. Put in the top part of the oven until golden brown. Approximately 10-15 minutes.
