BLOCK ISLAND MEATLOAF 
2 lbs. chopped beef
6 pieces white bread
2 eggs
2 sm. onions
2 tbsp. water
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper

Mix in bowl and form a loaf not more than 5 inches high. Grease pan with butter. Preheat oven 425 degrees. Put loaf in for 25 minutes. Take out and drain off fat. Put a spatula under loaf so it doesn't stick to pan.

Make sauce with: 1 1/2 c. pancake syrup 1 1/2 tsp. allspice Kitchen Bouquet to lighten brown color

Mix in pot on low heat. Pour 1/3 on meatloaf. Set oven to 350 degrees. Pour 1/3 of mixture on loaf. Baste every 20 minutes for 1 hour, 20 minutes.
