CHEESE PRETZELS | |
1 c. (4 oz.) shredded sharp cheddar cheese 1/2 stick butter 1 sm. pkg. (4 oz.) cream cheese 1 1/3 c. sifted flour 1/4 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper 2 eggs, slightly beaten 2 tsp. water 1 1/3 c. grated Parmesan cheese Beat together cheddar cheese, cream cheese and butter in medium bowl until well blended. Add flour, salt and cayenne. Stir well. Turn dough out on floured board and knead to evenly blend. Shape into 2 (12-inch) rolls, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for 1 hour. Working with 1 roll at a time, cut roll into 12 (1-inch) pieces. Roll each piece into 12-inch rope. Shape each rope into pretzel shapes on greased cookie sheet. Beat eggs and water together in small cup. Brush pretzels with egg wash, sprinkle with Parmesan. Chill cookie sheet with pretzels for 1 hour. Bake in hot oven - 400 degrees - for 25 minutes until lightly brown. Makes 24 pretzels. |
