CRACKLE-TOP GINGER COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 egg
1 c. molasses
2 tsp. each soda and ginger
1 c. sugar
4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. each cinnamon and cloves
1/4 tsp. salt

Mix well. Chill overnight. Roll into balls. Dip in sugar. Bake 8-10 minutes, 350 degrees.
