LEMON NUT BARS 
1 1/3 c. flour
1 c. oatmeal, uncooked
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. butter flavored shortening
1/2 c. chopped nuts
8 oz. pkg. cream cheese
1 egg
2 tbsp. lemon juice
1 tbsp. grated lemon rind

Grease 13 x 9 inch pan. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine flour, oats, sugars and salt. Cut in shortening. Mix until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add nuts. Remove 1 cup from mixture to be used later as topping. Press into baking pan. Bake 15 minutes.

Combine cream cheese and egg. Mix until well blended. Blend in lemon juice and rind. Pour mixture over crust. Sprinkle reserved crumb mixture over the top of baked crust. Bake an additional 25 minutes. Ice with cream cheese icing or lightly dust with powdered sugar (if desired). Cut into bars and serve.
